“Will you trust Me even when…?”

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 79
The story behind this Psalm is the agony of persecution for a people who were serving God.
This is how Christians must have felt in past times of persecution.
This is still what Christians in parts of the world today feel when they are targeted, persecuted, arrested.
Churches are firebombed, Christians are betrayed, jobs lost, property confiscated, children taken.
‘But God, we were serving You, we were representing You – Your holy work here has been reduced to rubble.’
‘Why God, how long God, do something God?’
A sense of abandonment, perhaps questioning of faith altogether?
And the whole situation feeds people’s rejection of our faith: “Where is their God?”
The Psalmist still somehow puts their hope that God will make things right.
Somehow, even when things turn horrible, God is still in charge, God is still at work, He will make things right.
“Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will proclaim your praise.” (Psalm 79:13)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
God, the question that comes to me as I read this is ‘Will you trust Me even when…” Not sure how I will handle that, but until then, strengthen my faith for whatever comes.
