Life is better with God!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 73
Why is it so hard to live for God, to live a good life, why do good people suffer?
I once heard someone’s testimony: ‘my life was relatively easy, until I met Jesus, and life became hard.’
There is a sense where this is true, because to follow God is to live against the current of this world.
And for some reason God doesn’t make life easier for His followers.
But Asaph does notice two things that are better: our destiny, and the comfort of God’s presence.
For the moment we know what God is with us, supporting and guiding us through life’s challenges.
And in the long run we know that by living with God, like God, for God, we will finish well.
Bad-living (like bad eating) will taste good for the moment, but will eventually make us sick.
But God-living, good-living, though requiring discipline, denial and difficulty, will lead to better health, better life.
In the end, having God is better, both for the moment and for the long run… no matter what else we experience.
In the end, having God is a better gain than any temporal pain.
“I don’t have anyone in heaven but you. I don’t want anything on earth besides you.” (Psalm 73:25)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
God, life may seem easier without You, but that is a lie. Thank You for the comfort and strength to live against the current. Thank You for the hope that my tomorrow will only be better than my today!
