Blessed to be a blessing!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 67
This is a blessing prayer, usually used at the end of a gathering or event, perhaps a religious festival.
It is based on the ultimate blessing prayer God wanted the priests to use:
“The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: ‘The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.’ So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” (Numbers 6:22-27)
God wants His love and blessing to be on us, to be experienced by us, to go with us wherever we go.
This is His heart, though many people refuse it, ignore it, or doubt that it could be for them.
God does not just want to bless us (or me), He wants to bless everyone!
David reflects this in this blessing prayer, “SO THAT your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations… May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.”
In other words, David recognizes that God’s blessings are meant for more than just me.
Do not just pray for God’s blessings to come TO you, pray that they will work THROUGH you, that others may be blessed.
Think about your blessings, think about all that God is gracing you with… then think about the SO THAT.
Who are the people God wants to bless through you?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
God, You are gracious to me and bless me and make Your face shine on me — so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May Your blessing to me become Your blessing through me!
