Special thanks to Jill Hamming from PEI who is writing the devotionals on the readings from Luke (with help from L.E.Porter’s commentary on Luke).
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION
- Jesus replies to a question with another warning. You have to make an effort to enter God’s Kingdom! Some people will be in -some people won’t. Once the door is closed you won’t be able to get in.
- What a shock if you thought you were a Jesus follower but you weren’t. You had gone to church, taught Sunday school, donated to evangelism, fed the hungry, been honest, but you die and the door is closed! Jesus sadly says, “I do not know you”.
- Lots of other people are in there with Abraham and Francis R. Havergal and Billy Graham. People you might even know. . . People you approved of, maybe looked up to and people you didn’t. Like the guy who cheated you on a sale or the woman who had hurt her child or the couple that you knew never went to church. They weren’t good people and you were.
- The only way for you to be in God’s Kingdom is if you come into a relationship with Jesus. Did you accept that He died as punishment for sin so that you can come into the Kingdom. Did you invite Him into your life to be your Lord and did you choose to serve Him.
PRAYER:
Thank-you Lord that you made it possible for me and everyone else to choose You. This is so amazing and I am so grateful for Your Grace. Please stir in me the importance to encourage others to choose You. Amen
