Allowing Jesus to reveal and change my heart!

SCRIPTURE: Mark 6:14-16
God was doing amazing things through Jesus, and people were taking notice.
But Jesus’ message challenged peoples selfish hearts – including religious and political leaders.
It was these every leaders who eventually crucify Jesus, to protect their own selfish hearts.
Herod knows he is guilty, and Jesus makes Him uncomfortable.
If we really listened to Jesus’ message, we would be uncomfortable too.
Jesus still inspires and disturbs people today – some repent but many resist.
Jesus challenges people in regards to selfishness, pride, lust, greed, unforgiveness, and so much more.
People get nervous when they hear this, and many do not want to go there, do not want to change.
Better to reject (deny, ridicule, ignore) Jesus than allow His message to challenges our hearts and lives.
How about us, are we willing to let Jesus into our hearts to deal with whatever He finds there, to expose and challenge our selfishness… or will I resist Him too?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, many people like You, but fewer people like what You do. You expose our hearts and call us to change, and that is scary for many. Help me not just to like You, help me to listen to You and allow You to change me from within.

  1. Observation/Application
God is at work then and now. The Good News could not be put to death then nor now. God continues to raise up His people His message to proclaim. It can not be extinguished. And people will realize the vitality of the message and yet will not listen.

    Open my ears Lord.

    Prayer:
Help me this day to see You.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat)
    The right word to say,
    the best move to make
Who’s in need of a helping hand
For Your perfect ways are worthy of praise
I delight just to do Your plan
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
I am looking, I am listening
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Help me to know Your will (repeat to beginning)
Help me to know Your will
Help me to know Your will
