Maybe I should write a song!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 45
When a king in ancient Israel celebrated a special event, the royal choral society would write and sing a song for the event (see also Song of Songs).
This psalm was written for a royal wedding (and remember Solomon had 700 wives, not to mention 300 concubines, 1 Kings 11:3).
This ‘poem for the king’ celebrates his virtue, his eloquence, his majestic glory and power, his goodness and honor.
The bride is removed how fortunate she is, after all God is on his side, his throne is backed by heavenly power, she will be honored by all, and her children will be royally blessed.
This psalm sheds insight on how a person should feel being united with God’s royal family, how blessed and honored it is.
Hmm, and I am a child of God, a brother to Jesus the Messiah.
My position in life is backed by God’s position — assuming that I am also marked by virtue, honor, goodness.
With some minor adjustments, this song could be sing for me too.
Not boasting, but appreciating the wonder of being in relationship with God as my Father, with Jesus as my brother, with humanity as my family and with creation as my/our realm.
Maybe I should write and sing a song too, about how amazing it is to be a child of God!

What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
