Believing is seeing

May 26, 2013
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 35
OBSERVATIONS/APPLICATION
Some people say ‘seeing is believing’, but David models ‘believing is seeing’.
David is in crisis mode, he is being unfairly targeted by people he thought were friends.
He is desperately calling upon God to intervene, to make these false friends taste their own medicine.
But even though he is not seeing God’s help yet, he is waiting for it, believing for it.
He is confident that God always does what is right (v.28), so he is committed to praising God at church (v.18).
Positive thinking does not make things positive (I can’t make cancer going away just by being positive).
But positive believing anchors hope in the goodness and rightness of God.
God – not positive thinking – will turn out all things for good, for God is always right and good.
Believing in God does not make problems go away, but it does give us hope that God is greater than our problems.
One day, in His time and in His way, He will step in to make things right… believing is seeing!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see my own uncertain circumstances in light of Your rightness and goodness. I too will praise You, for You will work out all things for good. I choose to believe it, and look forward to seeing it.

  1. Observations:
    David is talking with the Lord about his enemies who disguise themselves as his friends. David asks for God’s help to drive away those who desire his life and make plots to destroy him. He asks God for his enemies to fall in their own traps because once again it shows that God is his deliverer. Who is like unto Him? Don’t let the enemy pride themselves for their victories, but may all who know that I/David am right, be joyful and find the strength and hope in God and praise His praises all the day long.

    Application:
    All the time, God reigns. God reigns all the time.
    I must see His presence all the time and that can only be done when I walk and talk with God all the time – in joy and in sorrow. Sharing with my Father. Praising His presence. Thanking Him for the strengthening power to endure – to be His witness, to be His champion. He has promised to be with me and on that promise I must rely. Lead on O God eternal.

    Prayer:
    Lead me and guide me all the time Lord and let me see Your presence as I continue to walk in Your SonShine which gives me joy for the joy of the Lord God is my strength.

    All the way my Savior leads me;
    What have I to ask beside?
    Can I doubt His tender mercy,
    Who through life has been my guide?
    Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
    Here by faith in Him to dwell!
    For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well;
    For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well.

    All the way my Savior leads me,
    Cheers each winding path I tread;
    Gives me grace for every trial,
    Feeds me with the living bread.
    Though my weary steps may falter,
    And my soul athirst may be,
    Gushing from the rock before me,
    Lo! A spring of joy I see;
    Gushing from the rock before me,
    Lo! A spring of joy I see.

    All the way my Savior leads me
    O the fullness of His love!
    Perfect rest to me is promised
    In my Father’s house above.
    When my spirit, clothed immortal,
    Wings its flight to realms of day
    This my song through endless ages—
    Jesus led me all the way;
    This my song through endless ages—
    Jesus led me all the way.
