  1. Observations:
The people lived in the land but did not conquer the land. The foreign gods came a trap for them. After the death of Joshua, the people went their own way and went the way of the land and not the way of God. God raised Judges and the people followed the judge but when the judge died they went their own way. Everyone then did what was right in their own eyes. They did not remain a separate people but went their own way.

The refrain of the book of Judges is that the people did what was right in their own eyes. Each time God raised a judge, the people followed the judge. But the judge died and the people left God’s way.

    Application:
As the leader went so went the people. Leaders have great responsibility for they have a great following. As I go, so go my followers. My children. My students. My friends. They are all impacted by my lifestyle. I am a living letter – an epistle – read by all those around me. What’ my impact? Do I live God’s way or do my on things? I am reminded time and time again of Joshua’s words – but as for me and my household – we will follow the way of the Lord. His Word must be our guide also this day.

    Prayer:
Be my Guide each and every day Lord and help me to do Your Will.

Lead me guide me along the way
For if you lead me I cannot stray
Or just open my eyes that I may see
Lead me oh Lord won’t you lead me
I am lost if you take your hand from me
I am blind without try light to see

Lord just always let me Thy servant be
Lead me oh Lord, won’t you lead me
Lead me, guide me along the way
For if you lead me I cannot stra
