SCRIPTURE: Revelation 3:14-22
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
Apparently these believers in Laodicea settled into a spiritual rut, thinking that they were OK spiritually speaking. The Lord challenges their apathy, urging them to dig deeper, seek further, live more passionately. He describes them as having closed their hearts to Him, and at risk of missing out on really knowing Him.
This seems so applicable to many, but also to me. What difference does this message make for me TODAY? Is there passion in my heart for the Lord now? How can my zeal for the Lord show itself at work today, in the office, during phone calls, as I interact with others? Do I keep it buried within? Am I genuinely, sincerely “hot” for the Lord, or am I just pretending. If this daily reading program is going to work, I need to let this passage speak to me today. OK, so what will I do TODAY to rekindle my fire for the Lord?
PRAYER:
Lord, I confess that I am quicker with “words” than I am with actions. But I want this to change, today, now! Forgive me for only opening my heart part way to You. Help me to consciously think of being with You, and serving You, wherever I am, whatever I do… TODAY! Starting now. Amen.
Once again am I reminded by this selection about seeing: I am poor, blind and naked. It is only the Lord God, the Source of All who is able supply all my needs. He is my Vision. He says “Come, all who are thirsty!” And when we look at ourselves, we must also know ourselves where we are in our relationship to the Lord. We are either for Him or against Him. There is no other choice. Jesus stands outside the door of our heart and knocks. We must answer and then He will come in!
I have decided to follow Jesus. Open my eyes Lord, that I may see You in my Living for Jesus today.
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.
