  1. Plagues

    This is an interesting story. We have discussions regularly as to whether God created the world, and then put the laws of nature in place to allow it to run. Basically a hands off approach. Then we read a story like this, where God is actively involved in a sequence of events. Initially, we see that for the first three plagues, it could all be co-incidence. Even the wise men and sorcerers produced the same results. But God then continued with the plagues, with results that could not be copied.

    It intrigued me that it is mentioned that the Egyptians were put in place as part of God’s plan. God hardened Pharaoh’s heart as part of his plan. It is good to know that God has a plan. I was made as part of God’s plan. I could go about just going through life, but God’s plan for me is better than this.

    I pray that I will seek God’s plan for my life, and that He doesn’t need to resort to plagues (heart attack anyone??) to get my attention.

  2. Observations:
    Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them – a statement that is repeated.
    Pharaoh’s heart became hard is also repeated throughout the passage.
    So the Lord said to Moses is repeated throughout. Nice o have that communication but also scary doing what the Lord commands.
    The magicians did recognized the hand of God.
    What is the distinction between God’s people and the people of the world today?
    God gives His people – His servants – strength to do His commands.
    God raised His people up for His purposes like this – to show His power, that His glory may be presented in all the earth.
    Coming again and again reminds me of the lady coming to the judge for justice – just do it to rid of the persistent bother.
    The plagues were all wonders of God so that the people may see the distinction of Egypt and Israel.

    Application:
    At times servants of the Lord may wonder about the happenings in their ministry. Moses did. he got angry. But God is in control and His power, His wonders will be revealed. That revelation was not only for the Egyptians, but also for the Israelites and for me. Where do I see the hand of God today – His majesty – His power – His miracles – His presence – to give His people power and strength and hope in doing His work.
    Remember the Creator. Don’t be a slave to your own passions and desires. God is in control. See what the Lord has done then an He continues to do today. He has given His people the Light so that they may step out of the darkness into the Light – out of bondage to the freedom to serve.
    Thank You Lord for the LIght. May the LightShine today wherever I go.

    Prayer:
    As the children needed to worship You Lord, may I also worship You not only as I start the day, but in all I do and say. Make me an instrument of Your peace. Use me for Your serve.

    1. Make me a channel of your peace:
    Where there is hatred, let me bring you love;
    Where there is injury, your healing pow’r,
    And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

    2. Make me a channel of your peace:
    Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope;
    Where there is darkness, – only light,
    And where there’s sadness, ever joy.

    3. O Spirit, grant that I may never seek
    So much to be consolded as to console,
    To be understood as to understand,
    To be loved as to love with all my soul – .

    4. Make me a channel of your peace.
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    In giving to all that we receive,
    And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
