SCRIPTURE: Daniel 2:24-35
OBSERVATION:
God speaks to Nebuchadnezzar through a vision/dream. He speaks to the wise men through a star (astrology, Matthew 2:1-12). God does not just speak to those who know Him, He speaks to everyone in a variety of ways. The role and task of His servants (Daniel) is to help others discern what God is saying to them. Daniel directs the focus to God (there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries) and away from himself (not because I have greater wisdom).
APPLICATION:
So where is God speaking to people today, outside of the ‘church’? How helpful am I in explaining to them how God is speaking to them? Am I spending time with people outside of the ‘church’ helping them discern what God is saying in their lives (not judging them, but calling them)? The church today (like Israel back then) has forgotten that we are not here for ourselves, but for God and for serving others for Him. God may need to send us into “exile” in the world so that we can once again help others hear and follow Him.
PRAYER:
Lord, forgive me for not listening to You as You speak to me in a variety of ways. And forgive me for not making myself available to others to help them discern and follow Your voice. Help me to point people to You, and help them understand Your voice! Amen.
