SCRIPTURE: Daniel 2:1-23
OBSERVATION:
The true source of wisdom and power. The king had power to demand and execute, but not the wisdom to interpret; the wise men (including Daniel) had wisdom to interpret and explain, but not the power to read minds or stop the king. Daniel was wise enough to know that God has both wisdom and power (see his song). Wisdom and power can only be found in the God Who does live among men (v.11), and therefore we should trust in Him.
APPLICATION:
Where do we see wisdom and power together? It requires faith and humility to be wise (Proverbs 1:7), and those with power usually lack this. Am I seeking wisdom or using power? Wisdom is not knowledge, it is a right sense of God, self, the world and others. When I face a crisis, do I rely on my strength and knowledge, or do I humble myself and seek God’s direction and assistance?
PRAYER:
Lord, I admit that I do not turn to You first, I sooner rely on my own limited smarts and abilities. These are only helpful when submitted to You. Help me to submit to You, and follow Your lead. Amen.
