reasons to praise Him

There are two readings for today.

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 135
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. [Psalm 135:3]
All you Israelites, praise the LORD; house of Aaron, praise the LORD; house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD. [Psalm 135:19-20]
Who should praise the Lord? Everyone!
Why should we praise the Lord? For He is good!
This is a call to praise, to say great things about God.
The psalmist lists the variety of reasons why people should praise the Lord.
Can you think of the reasons why YOU should praise the Lord?

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” [Luke 17:17-19]
Jesus had just healed ten lepers, yet only one comes back to praise God.
And surprisingly, it is a foreigner, someone we would not expect to praise God.
Jesus identifies his response of praise as a sign of his faith.
So does the lack of praise indicate a lack of faith?

Who should praise the Lord? Everyone!
Why should we praise the Lord? For He is good!
This psalm is a reminder to God’s people to praise the Lord.
And a reminder is needed because we have a tendency to forget.
Do we take God’s goodness for granted?
Do we live as if all the blessings we enjoy were normal, to be expected?
Are we guilty of being like the nine lepers healed, not coming back to praise God?

Take time today to list the reasons why you should praise the Lord.
Be specific, and use your own words (don’t just sing worship songs).
Write the list down and keep it somewhere you can see it.
Not only is it proper, it is also pleasant [Psalm 135:3].
As you reflect on and respond to God’s goodness in your life, you will actually find your heart and hope strengthened, and you will actually experience His goodness more.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to stop and pay attention to Your goodness in my life. Help me to come back to You and praise You for Your goodness.

  1. This is a psalm of praise – a word that is found throughout the psalm. ‘Praise the Lord’ is like a command. And why should I praise Him? For the marvelous things that He has done.

What has He done? Be sure to see God today:-)

    I am His child.
    Another SonShine day.
I hear the creation alive with the ‘sounds of music’ – the birds a-singing, the golden wheat fields around my home on wheels, the blue skies, the dawning of a new day and all its opportunities.

    The presence of His family.
    The freedom to travel.
The pitter patter of the bird’s feet on the roof of the motor home.
    Life – in You.
    Family and friends.
Technology so I can stay connected with my family and friends.

    Praise the Lord.

    Grandkids 🙂

    Babysitting.

This reminds me of the child like prayer – God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for our food.

I need to become like a small child and thank Him for all what He has done for me – today and everyday.

    Praise the Lord.

Thank you I have my occupation
Thank you for every pleasure small
Thank you for music, light and gladness
    Thank you for them all
Thank you for many little sorrows
Thank you for every kindly hand
Thank you that every where your guidance reaches every land
Thank you O Lord your love is boundless
Thank you that I am full of you
