To see no one except Jesus!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5)
God appears to Moses and Elijah on the mountain of God (Exodus 34, 1 Kings 19).
Now the glory of God envelops Jesus on the mountain, and they appear with him.
Jesus seems to stand with Moses and Elijah, the three greatest prophets of God.
This is why Peter suggests three ‘tabernacles’ (sacred tents), one for each.
But Jesus is not just like Moses and Elijah; Jesus stands apart.
Though all three stand together, God centers out Jesus: “Listen to him…”.
The Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah) are witnesses to God’s Messiah.
But they are lesser than Jesus; Jesus is the greatest revelation of God.
All scripture submits to Jesus, and we must too!
This is why I focus on the gospels, for this is where I meet and hear Jesus.
Jesus shines with the glorious love of God (Exodus 34:6-7).
Jesus is the still gentle whisper of God speaking from the fire (1 Kings 19:12).
As Jesus followers we are not to be bible-centered; we are to be Jesus-centered.
All scripture hangs on Jesus as God’s revelation of love… do we?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I do not want to build a shrine to the bible. I open my heart, soul, mind and strength as a sacred space for you. Fill me with God’s glorious love, and gently whisper God’s Word of love!
