PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 14
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.” (Matthew 14:19)
There is obviously not enough food to go around.
And still Jesus thanks God for what God has provided – not enough.
I find myself asking for things, and not receiving what I need.
Or what I think I need…
It is hard to be grateful when God’s answer seems inadequate.
Did Jesus know about the miracle that was about to happen?
Or was Jesus confident that God was good, and somehow it would work out?
In my situations, I do not know what is going to happen.
But I can be confident that God is good, that somehow it will work out!
Giving thanks in all circumstances is a discipline I need to work on.
Not only because it expresses faith in God, it is also good for me.
It helps train my mind to focus on the good, not on the bad.
At this moment it feels like there’s not enough – but there is Jesus.
Jesus is more than enough, and is what I need to get through today!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank you for what you have given; I will work with what you’ve given!
