To know in my heart!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 13:1-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Otherwise they might… understand with their hearts.” (Matthew 13:15)
To see and to hear, we need to sense the meaning of the sights and sounds.
Yet that meaning needs to go further than our mind.
To truly see and hear, the message needs to reach our heart.
The heart is the spiritual centre of a person, of who we truly are.
We were created to be like God, to be shaped and moved by love.
Love grips us, changes us, compels us, energizes us, shapes us.
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart,
and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.” (Luke 6:45)

Isaiah’s prophecy warns that the people did not truly love.
Their hearts were closed, and therefore so were their minds, their lives.
The challenge in these words is: do I love what God loves?
Am I comforted, convicted and compelled by the truth of Jesus?
We need to feel the truth of Jesus deep in our hearts.
Do I feel the truth of God’s love in Jesus, and is it affecting me?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, to know you is to love you. May you and your message reach through my eyes and ears to my heart. Comfort me, convict me and compel me with the truth of your love!
