PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 8
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” (Matthew 8:4)
Jesus didn’t come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17-20).
Some people see this as meaning that the Moses Law still applies.
Does what Jesus say here mean we have to keep this Moses Law too?
Do we have to go to the priest/pastor when we are healed?
The Moses Law was given at a specific time, for a specific purpose.
“The law was our guardian until Christ came…” (Galatians 3:24).
Jesus is speaking to someone who is still in the old covenant.
He will initiate a new covenant before he dies, but not yet.
Until then, he urges this man to stick to the plan.
This law anticipates that healing and restoration will come.
This man’s healing is a testimony that God’s healing has come.
Jesus does by grace what the Law cannot, heal us, set us free!
“You are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
Jesus finishes what Moses began; Jesus, not Moses, is our liberator!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, blessed are they whose delight is in you, and who meditate on you day and night. For only you can help, heal, forgive, rescue and restore!
