PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 7
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice.” (Matthew 7:24)
Jesus speaks with the authority of God, and people sense it (v.29).
He refers to what Moses, the Law, and the religious leaders say.
But then he adds, “But I tell you that…” (Matthew 5:22,28,32,34,39,44).
Jesus doesn’t abolish the Law; he shows its full meaning (Matthew 5:17)
Active, self-giving love for God and others is the Law (Matthew 22:34-40).
Jesus not only teaches this way, he lives this way fully.
He is the gracious truth of God incarnate, putting it into practice.
Moses and Elijah represent the Law and the Prophets.
But when they appear with Jesus, God centers Jesus out.
“This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!!” (Mark 9:7)
If we want to know God’s will, listen to Jesus, do what he says!
Moses and Elijah are shadows compared to Jesus (Colossians 2:17).
This is why I focus on the Jesus stories (the gospels) in my blog.
More than anything, I want to listen to Jesus, and do what he says!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, my desire is to hear you and put what you say into practice. I want to build my life on what you say, but I need your gracious help to do this.
