The proof is in the…

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 7

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:22)
After comparing the two ways, Jesus warns about false prophets.
A prophet looks and speaks like a believer, but is not.
They bleat like sheep, but they are ferocious wolves.
They look like vines, but they only produce thorns.
They say ‘Lord, Lord’ as if they submit to the king.
But they do not follow the Jesus Way, the narrow way.
They do what seems to be good things, but for bad reasons.
Inwardly they are unloving, uncaring, concerned for themselves.
The evidence for a believer is their fruit, what they do.
It doesn’t mean they are perfect, but they WANT to be and do good.
They sincerely seek to be compassionate, gracious, patient, etc.
And they are sorry when they are not… because they WANT to be.
We are not perfect, but do we sincerely WANT to be?
Are we just saying it (‘Lord, Lord’), or are we trying to do it too?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I know I am not compassionate, patient and gracious like you, but I do want to be. Help me produce the fruit of someone that sincerely says ‘Lord, Lord!’
