What is my heart devoted to?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 6

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
Jesus is all about the heart, which is the spiritual center of a person.
The heart is where we love, and it sets the direction of our lives.
Our heart directs how we think, how we choose and how we feel.
Whatever we set our heart on the most, is our ‘god’.
The Law reminded people to love God and others most of all.
God and others, this is what we should treasure the most.
It doesn’t mean that we ignore ourselves.
Actually we find ourselves when we treasure God and others.
And remember, God and others are also meant to be treasuring us.
The problem began when Adam and Eve put themselves first.
This is the problem in our world, we treasure ourselves first.
And we treasure the things that make ourselves happy.
Do you find joy in loving God and people, or in other things?
Is my life directed by loving God and others, or getting what I want?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, if I am honest, my heart treasures things that make me happy, give me peace, satisfy my desires. My heart is willing, but it is also weak. Help me be more devoted to God and others!
