PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 5
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.” (Matthew 5:1-2)
Jesus sees the crowds and goes up to a place where he can teach.
But it is not the crowds who come to be taught – it is the disciples.
The crowds are there, but the disciples are students there to learn.
On a given Sunday morning, how many in the crowd are disciples?
Jesus was not calling the crowds, but disciples, students eager to learn.
We can still come to Jesus now, to learn from him.
We can do this through prayer and reflecting on the Jesus stories.
We can do this with other Jesus followers, sharing and learning together.
We can do this through books, podcasts, sermons, articles, classes.
There is no shortage of opportunities to learn – but are we eager to learn?
How eager are you to listen, to learn and to live out what Jesus says?
If what he says is hard, how committed are you to keep at it?
Jesus is inviting us to come to him, so he can teach us by his Spirit.
If we come to him, he will begin to teach us… if we come to him.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you are waiting for me to come so that you can teach me. The Spirit is ringing the school bell in my heart. Am i showing up to learn?
