PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 21:10-19
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“And so you will bear testimony to me.” (Luke 21:13)
Jesus does not expect us to convert or change anyone.
We are not to be his enforcers, making people believe.
We are called to be witnesses, to testify to what we know about Jesus.
And a witness can only testify to what they have experienced.
Too often christians feel the need to be eloquent or convincing.
They talk of doctrines they’ve been taught, but don’t really understand.
They defend Jesus and the faith by arguing and attacking what others say or do.
Jesus asks us to testify to what we’ve seen and heard of Jesus – our experience.
To do this we have to be aware of that experience, so we can share it.
No one can take away my experience of Jesus.
They can hate me, seize, persecute or imprison me, but they can’t take it from me.
They can even torture me to deny it, but that would not change my experience.
Such a testimony may seem weak, but remember the Spirit: he is the persuader.
He will give us words and wisdom, he will connect the truth with other’s hearts!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to be prepared to give the reason for my hope, to honestly share how you have impacted my life, and to trust that your Spirit will do the rest!
I know I have experienced risky situations especially as a Christian in a Muslim land – and I have experienced “For I will give you words” – the HS helped me say what I should – once He prevented me from saying what I wanted to say – he forbid me – and I felt a battle within – why not Lord? In retrospect I know it was a good thing – He was protecting me from risk for myself and our team.
Emmanuel.
God with us.
He is here.
Always.
And in all situations He will empower me, giving me the words to speak.
God tells me not to fear. Trust and obey. And looking back at different situations. God has given me the words to say when I went not knowing what to say beforehand. Just stand firm on the promises of God. Continue to lead me and guide me in the way to go – always walking in Your SonShine – showing me the way.
1 Standing on the promises of Christ, my King,
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God, my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
3 Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
Bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
4 Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning ev’ry moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
