Not enough?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 9:10-17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them.” (Luke 9:16)
There have been times when I did not have enough.
Not enough workers for the job, not enough money to do it.
Not enough motivation, or not enough encouragement from others.
I am always aware of the ‘not enoughs’ in my situation.
But how aware am I of what God has provided me?
Whether or not it is enough, God had provided me something.
Jesus says to his disciples, “You give them something…” (9:13)
Jesus gives thanks for the something, even though its not enough.
He worked with what he had, and God made it more than enough.
Jesus is not asking me to do everything, just to do something.
God has not provided me with everything, but with something.
A grateful heart sees what is there, and trusts God for the rest.
Could it be that I would see more, if I gave thanks more?
What are today’s ‘not enoughs’ that are more than enough for God?
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for giving me enough today to do something.

  1. “He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing…You give them something to eat.” As a believer, I must not send someone away hungry – I need to be welcoming and respectful – offering something of the hope we have and not leave someone hungry whether physically or spiritually as I am enabled. Jesus welcomed them and did not want to send them away empty. He said to His disciples – You give them something to eat! So must I – not live selfishly but see the needs of others – welcome them and respond!

  2. Is the glass half full or half empty?
How do I see all what the Lord God has given me? The blessings with which to work in His Kingdom. I always had enough. And from that enoughness give to the Lord. He has blessed me and I need to bless others with the blessings. Share. Share of God’s abundance and let them not leave ‘hungry.’ When I focus on what the Lord has done for me and not on the worldly pleasures, the upward look rather than the downward look, I can be a servant of His peace and share my abundance with others. This is God’s world and He still gives the command – you /me give them something.

Make me a servant, humble and meek.
Lord, let me lift up those who are weak,
And may the prayer of my heart always be:
    Make me a servant (x2)
    Make me a servant today!
