PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 17:22-37
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Where there is a dead body, the vultures will gather.” (Luke 17:37)
Jesus is talking about the coming kingdom of God (17:20).
It can’t be observed, nor can you figure out where it is (17:20-21).
Yet the disciples still ask, “Where, Lord?” (17:37)
Jesus’s response about vultures seems odd.
Vultures gather to feast in time and places of death.
The times of Noah and Lot were times of overwhelming death.
Yet in those time, God showed up with gracious intervention.
Wherever and whenever the vultures gather, God is there too.
This is both a comfort, and a calling.
In times of struggle, look for signs of God’s grace.
When death seems to be strong, Jesus LIFE is stronger still.
This is a huge comfort… but it is also a calling.
We need to go to places of struggle and death to bring hope.
Be agents of grace, mercy and peace wherever the vultures gather!
PRAYER
Lord, our world seems to be a feast for the vultures. Help me to trust in your grace and mercy, and help me to be your grace and mercy where vultures gather.
“It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed” People will blithely go on doing there thing and then suddenly every will be different. In a moment my life could end and Jesus could call me home. I’m ready – but in the meantime let me be busy but try to do as much as possible for Kingdom purpose! thank you Lord for the hope that I have in you – every moment of every day!
Spend time with the Lord. It is good to start the day with Him for through His eyes we can see what is happening in this, His world. Far and near death is growing. People enfold the wrong and gather together from low and high places, rallying the people. The wrong is often so strong, but God is the Ruler yet. In the darkness of today, I need to let my LightShine. All His own need to let their LightShine. We need to be instruments of His eace and mercy. Christ is our Light and Hope. Only He is able to bring what the land needs. Restoration. Living Jesus.
1 Grace and truth shall mark the way
Where the Lord His own will lead,
If His word they still obey
And His testimonies heed.
2 For Thy name’s sake hear Thou me,
For Thy mercy, Lord, I wait;
Pardon my iniquity,
For my sin is very great.
3 He who walks in godly fear
In the path of truth shall go;
Peace shall be his portion here,
And his sons all good shall know.
4 They that fear and love the Lord
Shall His holy friendship know;
He will grace to them accord,
And His faithful covenant show.
