Any time now, Lord!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 70

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God.” (Psalm 70:5)
Though I am not going through the same issue, I can relate.
As a deeply reflective person, I am painfully aware of my weaknesses.
And Satan loves to magnify these, to ruin me with them.
I feel what David feels about the way Satan toys with me.
I’m not one to blame Satan, or to claim he made me do things.
For me, Satan is the negative and deceiving voice in my life.
Distracting me with temptation, discouraging me with fear.
He’s good at what he does, and I fall for it often.
I never go a day without these internal mind and heart battles.
I follow Jesus because I know I need his help.
And I know that he has beaten Satan for me, once and for all!
But I do wish that he would hurry up and step in.
I probably need to learn patience… but I want him to hurry.
Is it OK for me to say with David, “hasten, come quickly, do not delay”?
PRAYER
Lord, life can be hard, and things get really messy. Please step in… sooner rather than later!

  1. “But as for me, I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer;” Or as Isa. 41:31 positions it: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” The Lord is my hope and my deliver – He is my strength – I need to listen and wait for his leading. The waiting is important – I need to trust the Lord – sometimes waiting can be a real test as it was for the Psalmist. When I look back I can see how God has provided – He does now and He will for the future – He is my help and deliverer!

  2. At all times I need to seek the Lord. When I feel down and out, oppressed, then I still need to seek His face but in those times I may cry out to Him wanting those moments disappear right away. In my trials I need to seek the Lord. He listens to my prayers. He is my Redeemer King.He is my Help and Deliverer. But His timing to answer may be different from what I may desire. I need to wait patiently upon the Lord at all times bringing all my thoughts under His control.

    1 In doubt and temptation I rest, Lord, in thee;
    my hand is in thy hand, thou carest for me;
    my soul with thy counsel through life thou wilt guide,
    and afterward make me in glory abide.

    Refrain:
    My God, I will extol thee
    and ever bless thy name;
    each day will I give thanks to thee
    and all thy praise proclaim.

    2 In glory thou only my portion shalt be,
    on earth for none other I long but for thee;
    my flesh and heart falter, but God is my stay,
    the strength of my spirit, my portion for aye. [Refrain]

    3 All they that forsake thee must perish and die,
    but near to my Savior most blessed am I;
    I make thee my refuge, my Lord and my God;
    thy grace and thy glory I publish abroad. [Refrain]
