PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 1:57-66
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“For the Lord’s hand was with him.” (Luke 1:66)
As I read this verse, I sense the Lord saying the same to me.
Believe it or not, the Lord’s hand is with me too.
Not for my own gain or advantage, but to fulfill his mission for me.
Like John, you and I also have a job to do – a mission from God.
“One who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than John.” (Luke 7:28)
I make no claims to greatness, but the God wants to use me too.
God has always enjoyed making a big impact through little people.
His hand increases the impact of what their little hands do.
A word of hope, an act of kindness, a listening ear.
John prepared the way for Jesus, but in a sense we do too.
As Jesus followers, our actions open the way for Jesus to work.
In the Lord’s hands, our little words and deeds become significant.
I am encouraged to remember that his hand is with me too.
May this inspire me to use my hands to do good for him!
PRAYER
Lord, what a blessing to be called to serve, and what a responsibility. May your hand be with me as I use my hands for you, to point people to you!
When the people didn’t believe Elizabeth – then Zechariah took a writing tablet and “to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” What were the people expecting – probably his Father’s name? But Zechariah and Elizabeth were faithful and gave the child the name John (meaning: the Lord is gracious) as the angel had instructed. The Lord is gracious – that should not astonish us. He wants everyone to be saved!
I am to love the Lord God with all my soul, heart and mind. Each day anew I start with the Lord, as His servant, leading me, guiding me in the way I should go. His hand continues to equip, lead and guide me for the works of service this day as I live for Jesus. May others see that I am His and He is mine. May I continue to seek Him always and worship Him Who give me the power and strength to live for Jesus this day.
Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
Refrain:
O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne;
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.
