PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 9:14-29
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Everything is possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
Is this ACTUALLY true, can believing make the impossible possible?
It depends in part on who or what we believe in.
If I believe in something evil, I cannot expect good results.
But if we put our hope in a good, all powerful God, there are new possibilities.
It is not ‘belief’ that makes things possible, but ‘belief in God!’
Evil spirits have power in our lives because we believe the thoughts they produce.
Negative, doubtful, hopeless, selfish, jealous, angry thoughts or feelings…
We give more credit to negativity or despair, than to the God of hope.
There is always the possibility of good, even in tough times, when God is involved.
I find myself needing this reminder in the current season I am in.
Jesus is not urging us to believe in belief, but to believe in him, and God.
Stop letting your fears convince you that they are bigger, better than God.
Trust God, and tell your fears how big your God is.
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
PRAYER
Lord, no matter how big or scary or hopeless this situation may be, you are always bigger. I choose to trust you. Help me do this more and more.
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Oh Lord, so often I act like I don’t believe – I’m like Jacob making my own plans – trying to take things in my own hand – but I learn repeatedly that I am prone to failure – sometimes I wonder how God puts up with me. Yet I know He is so gracious! I know the connection to God is prayer – to listen to Him – to seek His council – then I know I will be able to cast out those contrary voices that make me inept!
Who do I rely on?
If I rely on my own power and ability I will fail.
I need to rely upon the Lord and travel with Him always. Too often I go it alone. I need to depend on Him always and take all things to God in prayer. I need to daily walk in faith, relying on God, trusting Him and not in myself.
I need to put my will with His will. My desires what He desires.
All my thoughts and dreams must glorify Him.
I need to seek Him first in all things.
His will be done.
I need to be a prayer walker as I journey this day in His ‘Sonshine.’
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain
