How many more signs?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 8:1-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Why does this generation ask for a sign?” (Mark 8:12)
Jesus was healing the sick and setting people free from demons.
Jesus was feeding thousands of hungry people, and even raised some from death.
He had to urge people to stop talking because too many people came to see his signs.
Jesus sighs deeply because despite all the signs, these religious people still want signs.
Jesus knows their hearts, he knows that no amount of signs will convince them.
They do not want to believe because Jesus is against what they already believe and want.
For someone stuck in their thinking, no amount of argument or proof will help.
(Just try this, try to show someone that their political or religious views are wrong).
Do I have a humble seekers heart, or am I challenging Jesus more like the Pharisees?
“Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” (Mark 8:11-13)
There is plenty of evidence to consider already, start with being open to that.
Jesus doesn’t perform on demand, and leaves the closeminded in their closemindedness.
Will I keep following with my questions, or will I quit if he doesn’t give me the answers?
Where is my mind closed, where am I already predisposed to NOT believe what he says?
PRAYER
Lord, I do have questions, but the signs I have seen are enough to convince me that your message is good, even if it is hard to understand and accept. I will keep following you!

  1. In asking for a sign from heaven, the Pharisees were questioning Jesus creditability. Was He really the Messiah as He said He was. Yes it is easy to doubt – to have faith is more challenging. How do you trust the words of someone who lived on earth over 2000 years ago – how do you believe the Bible? It takes faith – but with faith we get to see and believe. I believe Lord help me address the doubts that keep asking for signs! What greater sign is there than your death and resurrection and the gift of the HS! Thank you Jesus!

  2. The Pharisees had been following Jesus and had seen all what He had doing and experiencing what He was doing. And they were jealous of His great following. They reminded me of the signs Moses did in Egypt but their hearts were hardened. When one has an open heart and eyes to see and ears to hear, there are signs all around us that He is Lord. Open my eyes Lord that I daily see You and what You already have given.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
