PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Leviticus 7-8
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.” (Leviticus 8:30)
There seem to be laws and sacrifices that cover every single aspect of life.
It seems the point of all this is: ‘your whole life is mine, I love very part of your life!’
The same point comes from the consecration of Aaron and his sons.
Blood and anointing oil seemed to touch their whole person – they were fully consecrated.
We see in this how Jesus’s death (blood) relates to our whole life, every part of it.
And also how the gift of the Spirit (oil) covers us fully, making us smell more sweet.
As a Jesus follower, I have been consecrated to serve Jesus with my whole life too.
I do not need to keep offering sacrifices – Jesus has done that for us (Hebrews 7:27).
But I am to devote my whole self to Jesus – what I have, see, say, do, touch and eat, etc.
That is, my life as a thank offering, an expression of my love for God and Jesus.
We continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15).
We do good and share with others, for such sacrifices please God (Hebrews 13:16)
Because Jesus died and lives for me, I am consecrated to bless God and others.
I am glad I do not have to sacrifice animals; am I glad to offer myself in love instead?
PRAYER
Lord, I am consecrated to bless you and others. I want to to offer myself as a living sacrifice of love in response to your sacrifice of love for me.
Contamination – easily negates an offering – the warning to God’s people is clear. And God sets aside Arron and his family to be high priests – they are specially anointed to this task. The responsibility of their special role as priests is on them and sticks to them like oil. Jesus was anointed and set aside and was consecrated – holy – he carried my sins to the grave and conquered it. He was not contaminated – though Satan tried – but Jesus stayed on task and now I do may be anointed by the gift of the HS which is even more connected to me – rather than external the HS is inside. Thank you Jesus for this anointing!
Do this and live.
Do all what the Lord commanded you to do.
His royal priesthood were to follow all the rules – set themselves apart to serve the Lord their God. Do His word, His commands.
And I too must do the same – follow His word, set myself apart and do His commands. Through the blood of Christ this comes a possibility to serve Him all my days. So I too will not die but live with Him forevermore. Help me daily Lord to do everything You have commanded me to do, guided by Your Spirit in the Way.
1 I am weak, and I need Thy strength and power
To help me over my weakest hour;
Let me through the darkness Thy face to see,
Lead me, O Lord, lead me.
Refrain:
Lead me, guide me along the way;
For if You lead me, I cannot stray;
Lord, let me walk each day with Thee.
Lead me, O Lord, lead me.
2 Help me tread in the paths of righteousness;
Be my aid when Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in Thee,
Lead me, O Lord, lead me. [Refrain]
3 I am lost, if you take your hand from me;
I am blind, without Thy Light to see;
Lord, just always let me Thy servant be,
Lead me, O Lord, lead me. [Refrain]
