PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 3:31-35
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:35)
Jesus loves all people, but he loves in a special way those who obey God’s will.
But who actually does this… we all fail to fulfill God’s will for our lives.
But Jesus is announcing good news, that by grace all people can be welcome.
God’s will is that those who repent, trust Jesus, and follow him, will be accepted.
Look at the mixed bag of people with Jesus, what do they have in common?
They have all responded with humility and hope in Jesus.
And he trains them to help him spread God’s grace around the world.
This is God’s will, that we admit our failure, trust in Jesus and seek to love like Jesus.
Those who do this have a special place in Jesus’ heart… but why?
Because this is his missionary family who will bless the rest of the world.
Those who know God’s grace will love all people and help them back to God.
As a Jesus follower, I am a member of Jesus’ family by grace!
As a Jesus follower, my calling is to obey God’s will and share grace with others!
This is Jesus’ mission, and all who join him have a special place in his heart.
PRAYER
Lord, it’s not a problem for me to admit my sinful heart and my need for mercy. Thank you for wanting me to be a part of your missionary family, that together we can bless our creation family.
“Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
I’m thankful that I to can be called that. I know I faill at times to seek and do God’s will – through the HS’s leading I am committed to trying and being more in tune as to what God’s will is for me! Help me Lord to be brave and confident in YOU – not in myself – that I may be able to do what pleases you!
Jesus calls us. Those who accept His call are His, kids of the Kingdom, His followers members of the family of God. And as such doing His will, accepting one another, we are all brothers and sisters in the Lord, instruments of His peace. By His Spirit He continues to lead me and guide me being His follower. May others see Christ Jesus living in me this day as I live for Jesus.
1 Jesus calls us o’er the tumult
of our life’s wild, restless sea;
day by day His sweet voice soundeth,
saying, “Christian, follow me.”
Jesus calls us from the worship
of the vain world’s golden store,
from each idol that would keep us,
saying, “Christian, love me more.”
2 In our joys and in our sorrows,
days of toil and hours of ease,
still He calls, in cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love me more than these.”
Jesus calls us- by Thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear Thy call;
give our hearts to Thine obedience,
serve and love Thee best of all.
