Bring them to Jesus (i.e. pray!!!)

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 1:29-34

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“The people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.” (Mark 1:32)
As a follower of Jesus, I’ve prayed regarding sickness and demons.
People who deny the spiritual reject both healing and the reality of demons.
And yet miracles still occur, and demons still impact our world, believe in or not.
Long after God was declared dead, God is still at work in our world.
We’re still trying to deal with sickness, and with non-physical (spiritual) illness.
Reductionism (reducing our world to material, non-spiritual reality) has failed.
People are still looking to God (the spiritual) for help and hope and healing.
Through Jesus, God steps into our world to offer help, hope and healing.
We can come to Jesus to bring our physical and spiritual troubles to him.
The way we do this today is by prayer, bringing those who suffer to Jesus.
How or when Jesus heals is beyond me, but things happen when I pray to him.
Sadly, not everyone I’ve prayed for has been healed the way I asked.
But some have, and most have been blessed through prayer… so why stop?
Our job is not to heal, but to go to Jesus, and let him do what he does best!
PRAYER
Lord, we still need you, physically and spiritually. Please show your healing power today so that people will know you are the way, the truth and the life!

  1. “they knew who he was”. Jesus healed many and cast out evil spirits – and those spirits wanted to undermine Jesus’ mission! But Jesus was aware of their strategy, yet he wanted to help many. Jesus did not want to be the kind of Messiah that people were hoping for – we have to understand that Jesus’ goal was beyond the limits of an earthly kingdom – so he did not want to be popular so as to cause the people to rise up and make him their king. The evil spirits know Jesus – so should we. His spirit within us helps us counter the evil ones! Lord Jesus I want to know you more and more!

  2. Come to Jesus. Come and share your joys and sorrows. Simon told Jesus of his mother-in-law who needed healing. The whole town came to Jesus. And I too need to come to Jesus for He is the answer. The mother-in-law was healed and started to serve once again. I too need to serve and that can only happen in His power. God gives His people strength. He continues to heal us this day and answers our prayers. He comforts His people.

    1. God gives His people strength.
If we believe in His way, He’s swift to repay
All those who bear the burden of the day
    God gives His people strength.

    2. God gives His people hope
If we but trust in His word, our prayers are always heard
He warmly welcomes anyone who’s erred.
    God gives His people hope.

    3. God gives His people love
If we but open wide our hearts, He’s sure to do His part
He’s always the first to make a start.
    God gives His people love.

    4. God gives His people peace.
When sorrow fills us to the brim, and courage grows dim
He lays to rest our restlessness in Him.
    God gives His people peace.
