Do we want to learn?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 13:10-17

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Why do you speak to the people in parables?” (Matthew 13:10)
If the Lord had wanted us to understand, shouldn’t he have made it easier?
There are so many aspects of the bible, and life, that are hard to understand.
“This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.'” (Matthew 13:13)
Apparently there are people who do not want to listen or learn.
They want the benefit of the education, without the effort of learning.
Wisdom and knowledge do not come through pouring information into our heads.
We have to earnestly seek it, wrestle with it, apply it, learn through experience.
The Lord does not leave us to learn by ourselves, he will help those who want help.
The Spirit of Jesus is our teacher, working with those willing to work with him.
As we ponder and reflect, as we discuss and debate, as we try and fail and try again…
Jesus is penetrating our hearts with insight, strengthening us with wisdom.
But he uses parables to weed out those who do not want to learn.
Those who seek will find, those who embrace the seed will have a harvest from it!
PRAYER
Lord, learning with you is not easy, but it is rewarding. I want to learn, but I need your help. Bless my eyes and ears that I may see and hear your wisdom and truth!

  1. Growing in faith – means walking with the Lord and learning every day – listening to the spirit and taking the time to really listen. As Jesus says of us we must “hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them”. Jesus heals me – even as I wonder and worry about things happening around me and in the world – and especially among our churches – in the Christian faith. Who listens – I mean really listens and turn? Like the sower the seed needs to fall on fertile soil to grow. I want to be that fertile soil – so I must regularly dig and learn – listen and see and do. Help me walk with you Jesus through the leading of your Spirit!

  2. Eyes I have t see. Ears I have to hear. But to truly see and hear I need to immerse myself in His Word to know Him, to truly see and hear. It is only with His Spirit to lead me that I am able to see His presence. Come into my heart Lord Jesus so that I may see You daily and hear Your voice to guide my way in living for You.

    1 Come into my heart, Lord Jesus,
    Come into my heart today;
    The door so long barred I open,
    Come in, blessed Lord, to stay.

    Refrain:
    Into my heart,
    Into my heart,
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus;
    Come in today,
    Come in to stay,
    Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

    2 And make of my heart, unworthy,
    A temple divinely fair;
    And Thou, only Thou, Lord Jesus,
    Exalted and worshiped there. [Refrain]

    3 Lord, make of my heart an altar,
    Where burneth Thy love, aflame
    Of pure, cleansing fire, refining,
    Consuming all dross and shame. [Refrain]

    4 Come, come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
    The door I throw open wide;
    Come in, blessed Friend of sinners,
    And ever with me abide. [Refrain]

    5 Abiding in me, Lord Jesus,
    And I abiding in Thee;
    No power my soul can sever
    From Him who has died for me. [Refrain]
