One who seeks justice!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Isaiah 15-16

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“One who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.” (Isaiah 16:5)
These two chapters are not inspiring, and yet they were meant to be.
Obviously they were a warning to the people of Moab, but not to Israel.
Moab was the land on the other side of Jordan, where some Israelites stayed.
They were meant to be one nation but they separated, and brother Moab was not nice.
When they grew stronger, and Israel suffered, they were arrogant and cruel.
They crushed the victims and chased the refugees and made life miserable.
Here Isaiah is encouraging the victims, that brother Moab’s day will come.
Think of an abused child hearing this promise: your abuser will face justice!
God is working in this world in love, but he is working with unloving people.
It is human leaders, not God, that make this world wrong and unjust.
But we see Jesus, the promised of a son of David, a just and righteous king.
Jesus comes establishing the kingdom (throne) of God, and ruling in love and goodness.
Jesus lives a faithful, just and righteous life, and invites us to join with him.
Am I committed to this just kingdom, am I seeking justice and righteousness with Jesus?
PRAYER
Lord, my heart longs for a world where everyone is cared for, treated equally, respected and loved. Thank you for establishing this kingdom. Show me how I can help!

  1. An end is prophesied: ” The oppressor will come to an end, and destruction will cease; the aggressor will vanish from the land. 5 In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it—one from the house[c] of David—one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.”
I am tired of the news – of the renewed spread of COVID19 in its newest iteration, tired of hearing of flooding and tornadoes and refugees camping at borders. Will there ever be an end? Yes, one day – but in the meantime I mustn’t lose hope but seek justice and speed the cause of righteousness – as the prophesy predicts – this Jesus who came and is empowering us today to act with, like and for him!! Help me Lord to be faithful today and not to lose hope!

  2. This is my Father]s world. He is in charge. He is with His people as He has promised. And though the wrong is so strong, God is in charge and His will be accomplished in His time. His people, I, need to be faithful and do my living for Jesus in His Kingdom which is here and now and one day will be complete. His people need to be kingdom builders, doing His will in times like these. LightShine.

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.
