As one who serves?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 22:24-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“But I am among you as one who serves.” (Luke 22:27)
I am sensing the Lord gently challenging me through these words.
I don’t think I am a “lord it over” (Luke 22:25) kind of person.
But am I among people as one who serves?
My role at work is to be a Jesus-like leader, as one who serves.
What about with my neighbours, am I among them as one who serves?
On the one hand, this is the kind of leader I want to be.
But I am also sensing that I hold back, I hesitate to step up to help.
There are a variety of ‘reasons’, but behind them all I think is fear.
Fear of what people will think, fear of failure or inadequacy.
My fears are ultimately concerns about my own greatness, success and reputation.
He has welcomed me to his table and conferred on me my kingdom calling.
My kingdom status and purpose are assured, I cannot fail.
He will use my flawed and weak efforts to do greater things.
Jesus is encouraging me to humbly and boldly serve others like him, as his partner.
PRAYER
Lord, strengthen my confidence in you so that I may humbly boldly lead by serving others with your gracious love.

  1. Walk the talk – following Jesus – I desire to serve him. He took the towel and showed the example of humble service. Helping, serving, doing something for someone else – there is nothing like it to express sincere love and respect for someone else. My service speaks louder than promises or even material gifts. Lord, give me a servants heart and a desire to serve – open my eyes to the opportunities out there to serve!

  2. Jesus came to serve. I need to do the same.
Being a Jesus follower, I must do the same, serving others, being an instrument of His peace. Those around me need to see Christ Jesus living in me by my words and deeds. That is my assignment in my living for Jesus.

    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today
