When Jesus is pleased

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 12:35-41

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He will dress himself to serve… and will come and wait on them.” (Luke 12:37)
Can you imagine this scene: Jesus serving you for your faithful service?
Jesus wearing an apron, and holding a serving tray, with whatever I ask for?
Jesus wants us to know how much God values our service to him.
Especially when the wait is long, and the work is hard.
Jesus has left us with a mission, to bring his grace into the world.
To share his blessing, to bring his peace, to demonstrate his mercy.
This is what he is asking of us while he is absent.
His love for humanity and creation is so strong, he wants us to share it.
And he will be extremely happy to find us doing this.
Jesus says these things to inspire his disciples to live and love like him.
Do I share his heart for serving the least and the lost?
Am I working for him like a faithful servant entrusted with a task?
My goal is not to be waited on by Jesus, but to see his pleasure.
To see his smile and hear him say: ‘thank you for loving those I loved!’
PRAYER
Lord, may I share your passion for the least and the lost, and bless others with the same generous love as you. May my service of others bring joy both to their hearts and to yours.

  1. In life I can’t coast – not for long anyway – I need to pedal. I can’t say I’m retired – now time to check out and take it easy. Rather, even in ‘retirement’ I serve. Yes, the Lord can take me at any time – one misstep on the freeway – one spinout on a slippery road – a fainting spell at the wrong time – a burst artery. I don’t live in fear if I am ready at all times. Keep me alert, ready and serving, Lord I pray.

  2. Faithful service at all times – when seen by others or when solo. Being ready. Being prepared. Doing what what promised and He too will do what was promised. Be a servant at all times serving Him in season and our of season. I was created to serve Him. May others see Him in me by that service.

    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today
