This coming month (December 2007) we will be focusing on the difference that Jesus makes in our lives.
As Christ-followers, we are all about Jesus! He is the reason, not only for the season, but for living and serving! We believe that He has changed everything, and now we have hope. Not just hope for ourselves but for everyone, for the whole world.
If you are a Christ-follower, can you explain the difference that Jesus has made in your life? Is it a noticeable difference? Tell us about it. Share your stories, so that we can be inspired and encouraged!
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
There is truth behind the titles of Jesus … Light of the world, Good shepherd, Living water, Immanuel (God with us), Prince of Peace …
Having Jesus in my heart as Lord and Saviour, means just that, He is my Lord (I listen to Him) and He is my Saviour (he has reconciled me to the Father).
Jesus being my Saviour has allowed me to make Him my Lord. There is no other way that I could obey Jesus as my Lord if He first did not become my Saviour and reconcile me back to the Father.
Being my Lord, he brings to life those titles above in a personal way.
Jesus is the light of my life – I do not live in darkness, but I walk in His light. Now, of course I can choose to walk away from him and choose to walk in darkness, but His shining light always draws me back – a beacon to me to draw me home!
Being my Shepherd, Jesus guides and directs me in all my life experiences. I have come to accept his discipline and wisdom as I submit to his authority. As I have looked back on my life, I can see the many ways that He has guarded and protected me from the various wolves of this world. I can wander off, but because He is my Lord I know that his call is never far off and when I really get myself stuck on a ledge, His strong hand and staff are there to pull me up.
Jesus is the living water that flows in my heart and soul. When I come to him in quiet times, He refreshes me.
Jesus is Immanuel – God with us – it is an incredible journey to walk through this life hand in hand with Creator God. The fact that Jesus came as a babe, took on human flesh, dwelt amongst us, died on the cross for our sins and accomplished reconciliation with the Father are amazing things. It is an amazing thing to grasp that our Creator desires to have relationship with me. That is one of the greatest comforts that holds my being together, that I am not alone, I belong to God and that we have fellowship.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace – when all hell breaks loose in my life, Jesus calms the storm. He breathes peace into my being and gives me hope.
There are many more things that I could speak of how Jesus has made a difference in my life … and each one of them grows deeper and with fuller meaning as the years go by. I would not trust my life to my own emotions for a moment … how often does my sense of reality and judgement of a particular situation so easily become influenced by my emotion at the moment. Having Jesus as Lord in my life is different than that – He anchors me to himself and his attributes and that is what helps me weather the storms and take joy in the journey of this life.
As long as I have breathe and live in the flesh, I know I can have confidence in my Lord and Saviour. He will bring me steady through this journey and use me to shine His light to those who have ears to hear.
Thank you Lord …. thank you for your grace and strength in my life.
