Oct 20 — Daniel 11:2-19

SCRIPTURE: Daniel 11:2-19

OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
This seems to be a very detailed vision. As I recall from seminary days, this is a fairly accurate description of what happened after Alexander the Great conquered those lands, how it was divided among his commanders, and ended up with major battles between them (look up the Ptolemies and the Seleucids). So accurate that it raises the question of whether it was written after the fact, rather than a vision given beforehand. Certainly God could have revealed this. But either way, the point of this is to show that the rise and fall of kingdoms is not in human hands, but under the supervision of God. “He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing” (Isaiah 40:23).

This passage is a good reminder to read the events of the day through the lens of God’s sovereign power and purpose. God remains in control, and His purpose will be accomplished.

PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for this reminder that the events of the day are not random nor chaotic, but they somehow fit into Your master plan. Amen.
