  1. This cartoon seems to suggest that sometimes the way we worship is less about worshiping God, and more about enjoying the experience of ‘worshiping’ (i.e. the singing, the volume, the songs we like, the crowd of people, the style of music we enjoy, the feel goods).

What is worship? In its most basic sense, it is responding to someone or something that is worthy of our appreciation. We can worship people, things, experiences, ideas, as well as God(s). I like the word ‘wow’ to describe worship, when something makes you step back and say, WOW!

Sometimes I wonder whether it is God that I am responding to when I sing, or am I responding to the music, the song, the setting?

Here’s a question, if there were no worship songs, could I still worship? The obvious answer is YES, but in fact I wonder whether many (most) people would not know how.

What makes you say WOW about God?
