PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 28:5-10
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“He is not here; he has risen.” (Matthew 28:6)
I’ve been with people when they died; I know the grief and sorrow of death.
But imagine what it was like to hear an angel say, ‘He is not here, He has risen!’
These women must have been shaking with fear and joy, doubt and hope.
Is it any wonder that they worshiped Him when they saw Him!!!!
When someone dies, they leave us.
Some say they just end, they become dust, they are no more.
But I believe, as the angel says, ‘they are not hear, they are risen!’
To quote the Apostles’ Creed, ‘I believe in the resurrection of the dead.’
Or to quote Martha, “I know (the dead) will rise again… at the last day.” (John 11:24)
Because of Jesus, death has been beaten, and eternal life is restored.
But what will we rise to, and how will we respond to the LIFE that is offered?
One day, people will say of me, “He is not here; he has risen.”
“The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
PRAYER
Lord, one day I will die and rise with You. How my heart yearns within me!
The angel, the empty tomb, the reminder of what Jesus had said while he was alive, and then meeting Jesus – it must have been so overwhelming! For me: there’s the empty tomb, there’s the testimony of so many who met the risen Lord and then meeting Jesus through the HS who convicts us – helps me overcome doubt and gives me living hope. Yes Jesus – I want to meet you at Galilee – Cambridge – wherever I go.
Alive?
The stone was rolled away.
The body was gone and the linens were there.
The women met the Lord.
This all happened to tell the story of Jesus and to show what He had told them was/is true. Jesus is alive and because He lives I too live – today and all my tomorrows.
He lives within my heart.
I serve a risen Savior
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
