PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 36
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” (Psalm 36:9)
Most people have a tough time seeing themselves realistically, in a proper light.
In the end, my view of myself – whether positive or negative – is not what counts.
What matters is how I will appear when I stand in God’s light.
David challenges those who “flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin.” (v.2)
He points to the glory of God (vv.2-9), describing Him as the true light by which we see.
I can see myself as more loving than another person, but in comparison to God?
Jesus reveals the character of God, and we are to consider ourselves in His light.
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” (John 1:4)
The life and light of Jesus exposes us (John 3:20), but it also cleanses and renews us.
Jesus did not come to condemn us, but to restore us to light and life.
As contrary as it seems, I need His light to expose my heart so that I can shine.
He does reveal pride, greed, apathy, lust, anger, selfishness… but He also reveals hope.
If we open ourselves to His light, He will shine love, joy, peace, etc. in us.
He is the light of the world, but we can be too, if we let Him shine through us!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to love the light, so that I will come into the light with hope that my deeds will not only be exposed, but replaced with Your life and light!
God’s unfailing love and protection – enables me in the face of evil around me – even from within myself when I seek the affirmation of men – when pride rears its ugly head – when I think I’m pretty good. HS help me not be deceived but like David – seek refuge in the the God who protects and will overshadow me with his protective wings. Only then will I be able to stand!
Jesus is the Source of Life and in that Source we have light, the Light that lights our way for Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Walking in that SonShine, walking in the way, other need to see that Christ Jesus is in me. LightShine.
This is only possible if each day I dress myself with His armour so that I may produce the fruit of the Spirit. God working in me and through me for His purpose.
1. The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in;
The Light of the world is Jesus!
Refrain:
Come to the light, ’tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me;
Once I was blind, but now I can see:
The Light of the world is Jesus!
2. No darkness have we who in Jesus abide;
The Light of the world is Jesus!
We walk in the light when we follow our Guide!
The Light of the world is Jesus!
