To follow the Jesus way!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Deuteronomy.29-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way.” (Deuteronomy 29:19)
Apparently some people claim to follow God, even though they go their own way.
They want the benefit of God’s protection and promised land, but not His will.
The history of Israel and the Church shows that this is the case.
To be a Jesus follower isn’t just saying the Jesus prayer for forgiveness and heaven.
Jesus warns that many who say ‘Lord, Lord’ do not really know Him (Matthew 7:21-23).
He says you can tell the real ones from the fakes by their fruit (Matthew 7:15-20).
Through Moses God laid out two paths for Israel – to life and to death. (Deuteronomy 30:15)
He was a type of the ultimate Moses – Jesus – Who would do the same.
Yet Jesus did more: He IS the way to life, through faith in Him we too shall live.
But as in Moses’s day, and in Jesus’s day, so in ours: faith requires action.
We cannot profess our faith, yet persist in going our own way.
Our way is the opposite way of Jesus’s way, and we will end up somewhere else.
I need to ask myself, am I really serious about living the Jesus Way?
By myself I can’t, but with His help I can… if I choose to walk the path of life.
PRAYER
Lord, help me not to be a professing christian, help me be a practicing christian, actually committed to following what You say with Your help.

  1. Deut. 29: 29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of the law.” Salvation through Jesus has been revealed to us and our redemption through Jesus belongs to us. Further, in Deut. 30:14 Moses says: “No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.” To me that refers to God’s presence through the HS working in my heart. What reassuring words and promises that belong to us – that have been revealed to us! Thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit, thank you our Heavenly Father! Guide my living and doing to be more like you!

  2. Once again I am reminded of Joshua’s words – Choose this day whom you will serve. But as for me and my household, we will serve the living God. Today is the Lord’s day and I choose to serve Him. Everyday is the Lord’s day and I greet Him each morning anew giving thanks of a new day to serve Him.

    Serve Him, serve Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love
    Serve Him, serve Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love

    Love Him, love Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love
    Love Him, love Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love

    Thank Him, thank Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love
    Thank Him, thank Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love

    Praise Him, praise Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love
    Praise Him, praise Him
    All ye little children
God is love, God is love
