Join with Jesus in overcoming evil with good

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 7

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.” (Psalm 7:9)
Children bullied, abducted, abused or used as sex toys, women assaulted and raped.
Dealers using drugs to enslave, and living on the streets, unloved.
Those with weapons or political power walking all over those around them.
Government officials cheating the system for their advantage.
Business leaders increasing profits at the cost of their workers and the environment.
David wrote this Psalm regarding a specific individual, but it applies to all evil.
It expresses the deep, deep longing for justice, freedom, safety and blessing FOR ALL!
Is it any wonder that God hates sin, and the misery it brings?
We should hate it too, and not just when it affects us personally.
Instead of hiding in our bubble, pretending that everything is OK, we should be riled.
We should join David in his prayer, but we should do more than just pray.
No we can’t change the world, but we can start with our own words and actions.
Pick a cause and invest in it – if everyone picked one, that would change the world.
Join with Jesus in overcoming evil with good – this is how His kingdom comes!
PRAYER
Lord, forgive us for becoming complacent because we are saved, while ignoring the plight of many throughout the world. Make me a channel of Your grace, Your peace, Your love!

  1. David has an intimate relationship with his Father. In his daily affairs, in his troubles he talks to God.
    I must do the same – daily talks with the Father. And when I am facing bad times. I mist not rely upon my own insights but lay them before the Lord. I need to be be GodStrong at all times and this is only a possibility when I am SpiritLed walking in His SonShine always.

    I serve a risen Savior
    He’s in the world today.
    I know that He is living,
    Whatever men may say.
    I see His hand of mercy;
    I hear His voice of cheer;
    And just the time I need Him
    He’s always near.
    He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
    He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
    He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
    You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart.

  2. From where comes justice and righteousness? Who can I trust when evil lurks around me – and there is so much injustice – so much poverty. How do I discern and ‘excise’ my own evil thoughts – those that are a blight to me? There are so many ‘pitfalls’, so many temptations that can lead me to unrighteousness – and derail me from doing what I should in ‘kingdom ministry’. Only if I’m connected can I be ensabled to serve – like the Psalm “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness, I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High” – Jesus is my rescuer – He is my enabler! Thanks be to God!
