Three days later!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 10:32-34
“Three days later he will rise.” (Mark 10:34)
By describing Himself as the “Son of Man”, He claims to be the Messiah.
Why then does He speak of suffering and death and resurrection?
This was not the path the disciples expected for the Messiah.
As Jesus followers, it is important we understand the path of Jesus.
In order to beat Satan, Jesus needed to face Satan.
Satan used every trick in the book, even torture and death, to beat Jesus.
But for the first time in human history, someone refuses to give in to Satan.
Jesus is the first Adam to break free from Satan’s grip, and the curse is lifted.
The death curse (Genesis 2:17) doesn’t apply to Jesus because He doesn’t sin.
As Jesus followers, we know that it is Jesus Who defeats the devil for us.
But to follow Him, we must join with Him on the path towards Jerusalem.
Refusing Satan will also mean suffering for us, but he cannot defeat us.
We belong to Jesus, and Jesus is taking us with Him into LIFE.
We will struggle in this sin-cursed world, but “three days later” we will rise!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have beaten Satan, sin, death and hell for me. Help me to look beyond the present suffering to the promised resurrection three days later!

  1. Jesus followers then were astonished and also afraid.
But they stayed with Him on the way.
And as we read later, these followers also experienced hardships, difficulties and even death for walking with their Saviour. But as He lives, we too will live today and forevermore when we follow Him. There will be trials, difficulties but as He promised we too will rise.

I serve a risen Saviour, He’s in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He’s always near

He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
    Along life’s narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart

In all the world around me I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary I never will despair
I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast
The day of His appearing will come at last

He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
    Along life’s narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find
None other is so loving, so good and kind

He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
    Along life’s narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart
