At the risk of burnt feet?

THE STORY OF JESUS: Proverbs 6
“Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?” (Proverbs 6:28)
In our sad messed up world, even this needs to be stated.
I recall speaking to a woman who had married someone else’s husband.
She was in tears because he had subsequently cheated on her.
She was surprised her unfaithful (to his first wife) husband was unfaithful again.
People losing homes and families and jobs because of gambling.
Telling lies at work, school or home, and then getting caught in those lies.
Living a secret life, doing things no one would expect you would do.
Wisdom is constantly warning us that hot coals will burn our feet.
Jesus warned about the dangers of the things that cause us to sin.
He echoes the call to wisdom: cut these things out of your life!
Paul warns about reaping what we sow and the wages of sin.
As a Jesus follower, I know (or ought to know) the seriousness of sin.
The price Jesus paid shows me how serious it is, and how deadly it is.
What are the things that I am doing (or not doing) that can burn me?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, some of the ‘foot burning’ things in my life are very subtle, but still not good. Help me to see that it only takes a spark to get a fire going.
