The end… and the beginning!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Revelation 21-22
“It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 21:6)
This is not just the end of one story, but the beginning of another one.
God was there at the beginning (Genesis 1:1), and will be there at the end.
And at that point we will begin the story God created us for.
“No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:3-5)
The kingdom of Genesis 1, where humanity reigns on God’s behalf, is restored.
Jesus is the Adam that refuses to bow to Satan, and therefore reclaims the throne.
He is the faithful Offspring, bruised but not crushed, crushing the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15).
This Story is an epic adventure, the ultimate triumph of good over evil.
And through it all, from beginning to end, is God.
And every letter in this story, from alpha to omega, spells the name of Jesus.
And like every good story, the ending is a new beginning: ‘They all lived happily ever after!’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we are still in this story, and there are many moments when we fear or despair the outcome. Remind me that You are the Author, and Your story has a happy ending!
