No less and no more!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Acts 14:8-20
“We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news!” (Acts 14:15)
Unlike Paul, I have never seen a lame person be healed.
But I am no less than Paul, and he is not greater than any of us.
He is only Paul, but he is also a servant of Jesus – and so am I.
The Lord does use some of His followers more visibly than others.
Some Jesus followers gain a reputation for their impact.
Some for their faith, or prayer, or speaking abilities, or leadership.
But we must resist putting them on pedestals, elevating them above others.
Pastors struggle to be noticed, and people want noticeable pastors.
Churches strive to be successful, and people want successful churches.
I sense Jesus warning me, and us, to beware of elevating churches or pastors.
Whether we’re a big name or unknown church or leader, keep the focus on Jesus!
“He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30)
The single mom, the custodian, the little child, and Billy Graham…
We all stand equal at the foot of the cross, only human before our God.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, forgive us for elevating some over others, and for being drawn to celebrity churches and pastors. You are our only celebrity, the only one worth focusing on.
