The strength of our anchor!

THE STORY OF JESUS: 2 Timothy 1-2
“He is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12)
Paul urges Timothy to stay loyal – unlike Phygelus and Hermogenes, like Onesiphorus.
It can’t have been easy for Paul, to have supporters turn from God and from him.
He put everything – his very life – on the line, and others were letting him down.
But Paul does not sound discouraged; in fact he sounds very confident.
“I know whom I have believed, and am convinced… (2 Timothy 1:12)
Paul has entrusted his whole life to Him, and he trusts Him completely.
Do you have this kind of confidence in God, even when life circumstances let you down?
Even when the people you are counting on for support are no longer there for you?
Paul’s anchor is not people, nor circumstances, it is God, Jesus and the Spirit.
Life’s storms are unavoidable, but they prove the strength of our anchor!
We can count on the stability and certainty of God – He will never let us down.
“If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself. (2 Timothy 2:11-13)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I admit I do put hope in people and circumstances. I don’t want to think about their letting me down, but if that happens, remind me to hang on to You, and know that You will not let us down.
