A passion for being and doing good!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Titus 1-3
“To purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” (Titus 2:14)
We are not only saved FROM sin, we are saved FOR goodness.
Paul is stressing to Titus that Jesus’s disciples are to be eager to do good.
He is concerned about those who are unfit for doing anything good (1:16).
The leaders are to lead by example, doing what is good (2:7).
Older men are to love what is good (1:8), older women to teach what is good (2:3).
Jesus followers are to be eager and ready to do whatever is good (2:14, 3:1).
They are to be devoted to doing what is good (3:8,14).
Do you think Paul is making himself clear in this short letter to Titus?
Goodness – being good and doing good – ought to be what we are known for.
And being and doing good with readiness, eagerness and devotion.
A people on fire with the Spirit of Jesus for sharing God’s goodness.
By goodness Paul means every quality we attribute to Jesus.
The fruit of the Spirit overflowing in our lives, not just a trickle.
Am I ready… eager… devoted to being and doing good?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, light Your fire in my heart to be loving, kind, patient, forgiving, generous, faithful, honourable, self-controlled – a shining light in an otherwise dark, messed up world.
