Open to God’s Spirit in me!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Acts 2:14-21
“I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” (Acts 2:17)
In Genesis 2, God breathes His Spirit into Adam (i.e. all humankind).
When they sinned, Adam and Eve did not lose the Spirit of life.
But they did lose the Spirit of fellowship and cooperation.
They were separated from God, and became subject to death.
For centuries God’s Spirit worked in individuals in limited ways.
But His goal from the beginning was to give His Spirit fully.
To restore fellowship and cooperation, to make His family whole again.
Pentecost is the restoration of God’s creation family… all people!
Not just a select few, but all may now share in this blessing.
Do you sense the Spirit of fellowship and cooperation in your life?
Even now, the Spirit is prompting you to repent, to trust, to love!
God and you, in dynamic partnership, transforming the world!
The Spirit is at work in all people, but not all people receive it.
Are you seeking His fellowship and cooperation in your life?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I just need to be open to the fact that God’s Spirit is in me, and is prompting me to trust You, to talk with You and to work with You.

    1. Spirit of God, dwell thou within my heart;
    Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
    Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art,
    And make me love thee as I ought to love.

    2. I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
    No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
    No angel visitant, no opening skies;
    But take the dimness of my soul away.

    3. Didst thou not bid us love thee, God and king?
    All, all thine own: soul, heart, and strength, and mind.
    I see the cross–there teach my heart to cling;
    O let me seek thee and O let me find!

    4. Teach me to feel that thou art always nigh;
    Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear;
    To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
    Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

    5. Teach me to love thee as thine angels love,
    One holy passion filling all my frame–
    The baptism of the heaven-descended dove;
    My heart an altar, and thy love the flame.
