Listening for His Voice!

THE STORY OF JESUS: John 16:5-15
“It is from me what he will make known to you.” (John 15:14)
The purpose of the Spirit is to help us hear the Voice of Jesus.
Jesus is not with us physically, but He is still with us.
He is our Advocate, Counselor, Comforter (v.7), working with and for us.
He continues the work that Jesus began while on earth.
When you sense ‘God loves you’, it is the Spirit of Jesus.
When you feel ‘you are not alone’, it is the Spirit of Jesus!
When you discern ‘that is not a good thing to do’, it is the Spirit of Jesus.
When you hear ‘help that person out’, it is the Spirit of Jesus.
Jesus is not with us in person, but He is with us in Spirit…
The purpose of the Spirit is not to make us charismatic.
The Spirit makes us Christ-like, bringing glory to Jesus through us.
He will always speak for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, etc.
Through the Spirit, Jesus is training and equipping us for following Him.
Are you listening for His Voice… are you following His lead?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are with me, speaking to me through the day. Help me to pay attention to Your message, knowing that Your words bring life, hope, wisdom and happiness.

  1. When a person dies we grieve. When Jesus told His disciples that He must leave them, predicting His death, they too were filled with grief. However, the gift of Comforter, the Holy Spirit, would be His presence with them enabling them and me to live for Jesus. The Spirit continues to lead and guide and direct and enable God’s people to walk in His Way. Just think of the happening on Pentecost day. In the Spirit we find the freedom we have in Christ Jesus to walk in His presence every day.

    Spirit of God, dwell thou within my heart;
    Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
    Stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art,
    And make me love thee as I ought to love.
